Q. What is more important – path/journey or goal?
A. The path/process is more important assuming the goal is correct
Q. And when we reach the goal…?
A. The process makes one wiser so the goal becomes higher/greater/deeper coz slowly one begins to realise one is capable of more. Eg the Guru slowly becomes a Satguru.
Q. Future is present and present is past so isn’t present more important. During the journey enjoying the journey and being on the path, handling the struggle and getting strength by keeping our focus on the goal. And once one has achieved the goal enjoying being there and the struggle & pain of the journey becomes secondary… It is given the path and goal is correct, otherwise achieving the goal is an illusion…
A. Yes a person becomes an engineer (goal) by following a path/process. Rejoices. Then has a choice – to stagnate or go deeper. Change is the process of evolution till sat chit ananda have been absorbed into the One.
The goal is governed by the law of change, while the process is subject to the law of constancy, the goal is identified with Karam indriyan while the process with gyan indriyan. The process goes with you while the goal stays back.
Q. By that logic all goals are temporary and in a way only a path to achieve the final goal of achieving oneness. And if path is what goes with us and is important then why are we unable to enjoy the path. And sometimes even the temporary joy of achieving temporary goals for which we struggle to reach is also missing… If there is no joy in either then why does one struggle.
A. Those goals that are sheltered by the Tree of Fear (TOF) have a joyless (or illusionary joy) path, while those by TOL (love) have a joyful path. The heart gives joy and strength while the Solar Plexus gives identification (ego) and drive. Often the latter usurps the former.
In the Bhagwad Gita Lord Krishna has referred to ‘the stillness of the mind’ as the greatest activity. So you help someone towards this great activity because it is the right thing to do. It is important to discern one who is ready from one who is not yet.
And there is a difference in discerning and judging.
When the mind stops drifting and becomes still you realize that which is the real you, the eternal Self that cannot be slain nor burnt, that within which lies the universe, where the play of the trinity and the duality are at rest, where time ceases to exist.
