Self–Hypnosis and What It Can Do for You

I consider myself very lucky to learn hypnosis from Santhosh Babu and later from the Omni Hypnosis Training Centre (USA).

I only regret that I came to hypnosis and hypnotherapy so late in life. I find it the invaluable tool of self-help – so unbelievably simple and effective, a tool to access the deeper layers of the mind, to remove the ‘viruses’ or negative programming instilled into us (consciously or unconsciously) by parents, teachers, society, etc., to clean up the mental mess and to introduce new positive beliefs.

Why don’t we know about the positive power of hypnosis? The answer is simple – hypnosis is surrounded with so many myths and scares that very few people have curiosity to explore it.

Hypnosis is not sleep and not a zombied state. Contrary to the common belief that the person becomes physically and mentally paralysed and gullible to any suggestion from the hypnotist, I would say that there is not such ‘hypnotised’ feeling.

In a state of deep hypnosis, you continue to be aware of the background noises and the physical environment. You also know that you can return back to the normal physical consciousness any time you want and you have the power to accept or reject a suggestion.

The difference is that in hypnosis the mind shifts to a different mode of functioning. The conscious mind which was running on foreground shifts to the background while the greater consciousness becomes accessible. One can also describe this phenomenon as shifting from a linear perception to non-linear.

What can you do with hypnosis?

1. Better meditation

Many people complain that they cannot meditate because they cannot still their mind. How to go into a calm space within you?

Induce a light trance for yourself and then, instead of the command ‘Deep sleep’, give yourself the command ‘Meditate’. Your conscious mind will ‘go to sleep’ while you, the bigger consciousness, will be able to pilot yourself anywhere you want.

Bring yourself out of meditation gently by using the counting out technique of hypnosis. This is much better than abruptly coming down to your physical senses as practiced by some people.

2. Expanding your self-perceived limits

When you induce yourself into a trance, you allow your consciousness to expand tremendously. The limits are set by your imagination only.

For example, in a trance, you can suggest to yourself:

“I am a gifted healer! I am a pure channel of Divine healing energy! Divine Love flows through me! The Divine Healing Energy flowing through me is touching the lives of people who need healing help right now!”

Your conscious mind remembers this experience of you being a gifted healer and it becomes easier and easier for your to recreate this state. Remember it is not for your ego, but to dissolve your limiting beliefs about yourself!

Of course, needless to say that healing given from this state of consciousness is by far more powerful than an ordinary healing session.

The level of consciousness expands so much that it becomes difficult to fit yourself back into a small physical body.

3. Soul journeys

When in trance, you operate on a higher consciousness level, unlimited by your ‘small personality’.

In trance, you can:

– Travel in the inner worlds in any direction you choose.

– Do your Project Sanctuary work.

– Heal yourself and other people.

– Help people who need your help.

– Learn new things in the inner word.

– Contact your Spirit Guides and Healing Angels and channel information from them.

– Talk to your clients on the Soul level in order to uncover the root cause of their conditions.

– Undertake a shamanic journey for various purposes.

– Talk to the animals in their spirit form and channel healing to them.

4. Pre-experience events in your life

Pre-experiencing events will help to eliminate stress associated with them and show you that you are on the right course.

For example, if you are scared of public speaking, you can pre-experience yourself as a confident public speaker in front of audiences of various strengths. In the inner world, your fears and limiting beliefs become apparent and you can deal with them constructively. Also, the conscious mind remembers the good outcome of the inner experience and when a similar situation arises in the physical world, you will react to it calmly and confidently.

5. Finding the best solution for your problems

In a state of trance you can fast-forward your life and observe the effect of your present decisions on your future. Then you can choose the best option available to you now.

After induction into a trance, you can go to your Safe Place and contemplate on the best way to solve the life situation. In the Safe Place the strong and week points of possible solutions become apparent. You can also give a command to your mind: “While my conscious mind is busy looking for the best solution to the issue, my higher consciousness is already arranging all the resources required to resolve the situation.”

I guess there are many more ways of utilising the technique of self-hypnosis. Once you learn and start applying the technique of self-induction into a hypnotrance, you will find many more creative applications – suitable to your personality and your field of work.

6. Manage stress better

Hypnosis is a great tool to help your loved ones affected by stress or undergoing emotional turmoil. Personally, it proved to be the most valuable method to help my daughter to relieve extreme stress and mental fatigue during her annual exams. She enjoyed it so much that she periodically asks me to give her a ‘deep relaxation’ for study habits, self-confidence and better self-image.

I would suggest to everyone who is interested in self-development and helping to his near and dear ones to learn hypnosis – one of the most valuable tools on the planet.

Any technique I can do myself now?

Here are the elementary steps:

1. Ensure that you are alone in a quiet room.

2. Close your eyes and relax the eyelids to the point they will not work and then test them to prove to yourself that they will not work.

3. Slowly count backward from ten to one and allow yourself to go deeper into a trance.

4. After each number repeat to yourself: "In body and mind, I am relaxing deeper and deeper..."

5. When you reach number 1, concentrate on your breath and imagine and feel that you body is getting lighter and lighter. Waves of relaxing cosmic energy are entering your body and spreading from the toes upwards. Imagine and feel that a light, tingling, relaxing, energising sensation flooding you.

6. Repeat several times positive affirmations. For example, ''At all times, I am totally calm, cool and in control.''

7. Give yourself the following suggestion: ''Hereafter, each time I induce self-hypnosis, I will be able to do much easily and faster.''

8. You can then come out of the trance by counting from 1 to 10. On reaching ten, give yourself suggestion: "Feeling good and totally alert!" and slowly open your eyes.

Looking for the Cause of the Disease

The most important and challenging task for an energy healer is to find the underlying cause of the disease.

Why is it important to know the inner cause of disease?

Because it contains the key to solve the case and to choose the most effective approaches to the problem – on every level, be it physical, energetic, psychological or karmic. Without it the treatment may not give stable results and the condition tends to relapse.

How to reach the inner cause of the condition?

Often, the cause becomes apparent to a healer while talking to a client or by observation of the client’s body - often the body tells the story laud and clear, one just needs the eyes to see.

There are other methods of investigation:

  • through meditation and self-knowledge;
  • by consulting a psychologist;
  • by consulting a highly developed clairvoyant (make sure they have a good track record!);
  • a healer can help the client to communicate to their subconsciousness;
  • through a hypnotherapy session.

One hypnotherapist narrated a following story about a client who came to him with a severe egg allergy.

(There is currently no medical cure for egg allergy. From the medical point, it is usually treated with an exclusion diet and avoidance of foods that may be contaminated with egg. In Pranic Healing we would use the procedure for allergy, which includes blood purification, cleansing and balancing the affected chakras.)

The client was regressed and the following story emerged.

The client’s mother was a vegetarian, married into a non-vegetarian family. When she was pregnant with the baby (the client), her husband would insist that she ate eggs saying that it was necessary for the proper development of the fetus. Being a Brahmin, she abhorred the idea of eating eggs. This intense hatred to eggs was transferred to the baby and later manifested as egg allergy.

Once the underlying cause is known, one can choose appropriate intervention techniques. E.g. hypnosis provides tools to deal with such problem. In Pranic Healing we would use Pranic Psychotherapy to disintegrate the negative thoughtforms formed during the pre-natal stage and then we would apply Advance Pranic Healing techniques to treat the energy body. Such approach is very precise and gives stable results.

What can the patient do himself to manage the change for better health?

  • Positive affirmations
  • Positive visualization
  • Meditation to connect to your inner self
  • Keeping a gratitude journal
  • Physical exercises.

About Hypnosis

What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a state of restful alertness. In this state the subconscious is open and receptive to accept suggestions.

Hypnosis can be induced by a procedure known as a hypnotic induction, which is composed of preliminary instructions and suggestions.

Hypnotic suggestions may be delivered by a hypnotist in the presence of the subject, or may be self-administered ("self-suggestion" or "autosuggestion").

What is hypnotherapy?

The use of hypnotism for therapeutic purposes is referred to as "hypnotherapy".

How does hypnosis work?

Our mind has two parts – the conscious and the subconscious. Everything that we’ve ever experienced, seen, heard, smelled, tasted, felt – is stored in our subconscious mind. It is a repository of all our memories of all lifetimes. Our belief system is also stored in the subconscious mind.

During the session, the hypnotherapist helps the subject to access these memories to help them find the root cause behind their condition(s). He also helps them make changes in their attitude and behaviour through creative imagery and hypnotherapy techniques.

However, it’s the choice of the subject whether to accept suggestions or not. Hypnotist delivers the hypnotic suggestions which the subject wants.

Do you black out when you are hypnotised?

Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness. It is not a state of unconsciousness.

Contemporary research suggests that hypnosis is actually a wakeful state of focused attention and heightened suggestibility, with diminished peripheral awareness.

The subject normally remains consciously aware of their surroundings.

Even in deeper states of hypnosis, in which a subject is no longer consciously aware of their surroundings, the subject is not actually “sleeping”. They are just in a very deep, relaxed and suggestible state. They are still subconsciously aware of everything that is being said and everything that is happening around them.

A person in a hypnotic state retains full control of their decisions. They can decide to comply with a suggestion or reject it.

The person is able to return to the present easily on their own by counting from one to five. Counting is not necessary but helps the process.

Is hypnosis dangerous?

According to many instructors, hypnosis of and by itself is not dangerous. If it were, we would all be in jeopardy every time we get engrossed in a TV show, movie, or book.

Other examples of trance are highway hypnosis and staring out the window. We all have experienced it.

What is Regression to Cause?

Regression to Cause is a term used to describe the process of using our subconscious mind to connect to the initial situation or feelings that are the source of a problem in our life today. The cause may lie in the present life or a past life.

What is Age Regression?

The term describes a process in which the subject returns to an earlier stage of life in order to explore a memory or to get in touch with some difficult-to-access aspect of their personality.

What is Past Life Regression?

Past Life Regression is the ability of a person to selectively access the memories of lives lived earlier than the current birth.

These memories include impressions of traumas from past lifetimes which manifest at various levels of our existence and cause problems in the current life. The problems can be physical, mental, emotional illnesses as well as blocks in relationships, business, financial and spiritual growth, etc.

E.g., some cases of asthma have been found to have their origin in past life, where the person suffering died due to 'stoppage of breath' due to any reason. The present life situation, at a particular time and conditions (could be weather, pollens, dust, etc.) triggers this memory of past life.

What is the procedure to recall past life using regression?

Once the subject is in a hypnotic state, the hypnotist, by using post-hypnotic suggestions, makes a person to start recalling past memories through series of some simple questions.

What type of problems can be treated with Regression to Cause?

Regressions are particularly valuable when dealing with issues that have no “rational” cause. Regressions are helpful in solving relationship problems, in phobias, addictions, chronic pain, illnesses, etc.

How can hypnosis skills be useful for a healer?

Hypnosis skills allow the practitioner to uncover the root cause of the problem. Thereafter the energy healing can be applied more economically and effectively to complete the treatment.

These skills may compliment the Verbal and Visual Instructive Healing.

Is it a miracle cure?

Regression is one of the most effective psychological and transpersonal tools available and often saves many years of psychotherapy, however, nothing is a panacea.

Uncovering the root cause explains the cause of a current life problem, but for the person it’s still necessary to follow through by

  • taking responsibility for their life,
  • forgiving themselves and anyone involved,
  • and by taking appropriate actions that will help to solve the problem or reach the goal.

The Gift Pattern - Reversed

A veil

A Healing Failure

When a healer stressed, they cannot heal. They may be overwhelmed by emotions, especially if their near and dear ones are involved, or by the gravity of the situation, or by the responsibility of producing immediate results, or by numerous requests for urgent help combined with the lack of time.

Stress causes a healing failure – a healer is unable to heal. A sort of mental and energy paralysis sets in, and the greater is the pressure, the more severe is the shut down of all healing channels.

In this stressed state turn to your Inner Sanctuary* for help. No matter how stressed you are on a conscious level, your energy mind is always ready to come to your rescue, to offer you new ideas. There is always a place of serenity and quietude reserved for you in your Sanctuary. There is always a path to your Ultra Height and invisible helpers ready to take you there.

Below is the pattern from the Project Sanctuary which unfolded when the stressed healer turned to her energy mind for help.

The Gift

Mom’s holographic image appeared on the white screen… I looked at the image and observed darkness in her head area on the right…

She just had a heart surgery, the heart area seems not bad, then why there is darkness in the energy field in the head area? And the darkness is moving.

I asked my energy mind to give me an idea how to approach this situation. An image of silvery-white lightfall have appeared. Good! Let it flow down her head and through the energy body washing her inside and outside. Shining silvery light is dispelling all the darkness so very quickly.

What about the heart? I looked at the heart chakra. It’s not so bad, the energy is depleted and there is some deformity on the left side. With my silver energy healing hands I gently touched and corrected it.

The head and the face area are still dark, it does not go… what to do?

- I want to talk to this darkness. Darkness, come forward and talk to me!

- Yes, what do you want, - a cold faint voice responded.

- What are you doing here?

- I am making her sad, making her think that she will die.

- Why are you doing this?

- I was with her for many years and these are the little games we play in-between two of us. I am the veil of darkness, hopelessness, sadness. I make people feel sad.

- She does not want you here!

- No, she does want me here.

- Mom, do you want this sadness to be in your aura, making you sad oh so often?

- Yes, I want…

- All right, mom, in a moment I am going to count from 1 to 10 and you will allow your mind to be lifted higher and higher while you body remains so deeply relaxed. I want to you expand your consciousness till your meet your Higher Self so you can speak to Her.

- All right, let’s start!... – I started counting with intermediate suggestions. Finally, she softly said, - Yes, I am now standing in front my Higher Self.

- Do you believe it’s your Higher Self?

- Yes, I do.

- How do you know this?

- I know this in the deepest part of my heart – that this is me.

- Good! Now I want you to look for a minute at your Higher Self and admire Her magnificence. It’s you – in your fully realized potential. You like this picture, don’t you, mom?

- Yes, I like…

- Now I want your to talk to your Higher Self and ask Her about the veil of sadness – it is worth wearing it at all?

Mother communicates telepathically while I am waiting.

Then I observed a beautiful event. The Higher Self gives her a marvelous crystal as a gift. It radiates many colours – the waves of shimmering blue, green, violet and pink in the sea of brilliant white.

In response my mother lifts and gathers her veil and hands over to the Higher Self as a gift!

I am astonished because I know something miraculous just took place. That was the Sanctuary ‘Gift Pattern’ in reversal. The sadness has been accepted by the Higher Self and gone.

How does mother feel now?

She feels somewhat vulnerable because everyone can see her now as she is, without covers and masks and she is not used to that.

- How do you like this state, mom?

- It feels new.

- Are you feeling any sadness, gloom?

- No, just incredible lightness and curiosity about the world around me, I feel like I am a small child.

She tells me that she feels love emanating from her to the rest of the world.

She feels joy and compassion for those who have not yet experienced this state.

She feels compassion for the people who are carrying in their auras misery and veils of sadness that do not allow them to experience life fully.

Great! Now let me go back to the holographic image in the Healing Room. What does her aura look like now? It is shimmering with green, blue and white lights.

How is her heart chakra? I make some adjustments and comb the aura rays to fluff up the aura. I feel good about this healing. I forgot all about my ‘healing failure’. What about her?

- Mom, do you feel good?

- Yes, I do, thank you, daughter.

This was the breaking point, after which a recovery process started on the physical level.
